The Wisconsin Badgers got some major news on Tuesday evening, as they landed a commitment from three-star edge rusher Brody Pfannenstiel, he announced.

Pfannenstiel, a 6’4, 225-pound edge rusher, had been committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders since March, but took an official visit to Wisconsin during the weekend of June 5th before a visit to Texas Tech.

After contemplating both options, the Kansas native elected to flip his commitment and join a loaded class at edge rusher for the Badgers. Wisconsin had previously landed in-state edge rusher Isaac Miller before beating out Ole Miss and Purdue for three-star Darin Graham during official visits.

They also landed high three-star Yahzeen Zion, a bridge edge/defensive lineman who had some major SEC competition. Now, Matt Mitchell rounds out one of his best classes at Wisconsin with the flip of Pfannenstiel. Initially, it was unclear how many edges the Badgers would take, but they landed each of the players they targeted during official visits.

Pfannenstiel’s commitment continues a strong June for the Badgers, as they’ve hit on an exceptional rate with their official visitors.

During the first weekend, Wisconsin had six visitors and landed five of them, with wideout Tavares Powell being the lone visitor to not commit. The Badgers would fill up with priority targets Jai Jones and Steele Harris the following weekend.

During the second weekend, the Badgers brought in six more visitors, now landing four of them: Pfannenstiel, safety James Roberson, Harris, and defensive lineman Yahzeen Zion. Of the two uncommitted targets, four-star Chuck Alexander is still deciding between Wisconsin and Louisville, while offensive lineman Alijah Shaw wasn’t the best fit with three tackle prospects already committed to Wisconsin.

Pfannenstiel is a big addition for the Badgers, and likely caps the edge position for Wisconsin in the 2027 class.
