Victor Wembanyama wasn't smiling by the end of NBA Finals Game 1.

A strong fourth quarter had pushed the New York Knicks past his San Antonio Spurs, and so there was plenty of work to do for the 7-foot-4 superstar.

Earlier, though, he had managed to crack a smile.

In one of those potentially scary moments, a fan ran on the court, toward Wemby and Knicks center Mitchell Robinson.

The fan decided to take a selfie.

Wembanyama seemed to make up his mind to smile for the picture:

Obviously, this has the possibility of turning into a scary moment for the athletes, but as it happened, Wembanyama apparently sensed that he didn't need to have fear.

Instead, he just decided he'd enjoy the oddity of the scene.

Wembanyama ticks to the beat of a different drum than many of the NBA's top players. He appreciates some of life's simpler things, but that doesn't stop him from being ultra-competitive.

But hey, when the play was stopped and a fan wanted a selfie, Wemby didn't want to disappoint.

That fan won't be attending another game anytime soon, but at least he's (probably) got a selfie with a smiling Wembanyama in the background.
