Clips show Tyrice Knight in great shape at Seahawks' OTAs

· Yahoo Sports

Today was Day 5 of 6 of the Seattle Seahawks’ OTA Offseason Workouts, and there are several backup battles heating up as the league schedule progresses towards Mandatory Minicamp on June 9th-11th. Unsurprisingly, Tyrice Knight has shown up in shape to be the clear favorite as the third linebacker.

Hawkblogger went live on X and shared video footage of several position battles, highlighting the LB group and showing clips he took of drills they did in the middle of his stream (skip to around the 16-minute mark to see the prominent bag drill).

He mentions Knight looking particularly good in a bag drill they did. Ernest Jones and Drake Thomas lead the group, followed by Chazz Surratt and Parick O’Connell, Chris Paul Jr. and JaMarkus Weston, with Knight the final one to go. His feet stab into the ground differently in a way that looks quicker than all the rest of them, which shouldn’t be a massive surprise considering he was drafted as high as any other than Ernest Jones, and is younger. It serves as a reminder to the athleticism Seattle saw in him, and how despite having mostly Day 3 draft picks in the position room, they’ve found the talent in creative ways.

The others in the LB group are relative unknowns, and will all need to prove themselves next week in Mandatory Minicamp. Preseason performances will only go so far for players that don’t have Knight’s 70th-80th percentile speed and agility testing, but if they’re a bigger profile that can move just as well for their size, they still have a shot to beat him out.
