A.J. Brown apparently put his best foot forward during his first practice with the New England Patriots.

The star receiver practiced with his new teammates on Tuesday, a day after being acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles for a pair of draft picks. And CLNS Media's Taylor Kyles, who was at the practice, shared an interesting observation.

"Patriots coaches wanted AJ Brown (wearing pink cleats below) at the front of the line during position drills, but the veteran declined, saying he wants to earn that spot," Kyles wrote in an X post, which included a video you can view below.

With Brown now in the fold, he and Drake Maye can get to work on forming a connection that will need to be strong for New England to overcome a daunting 2026 schedule. And although Brown might not be as great as he once was, he undoubtedly will improve a Patriots offense that was good enough last season to earn a spot in the Super Bowl.

However, New England's receiver room might shrink in the coming weeks, as Kayshon Boutte reportedly wants to be traded.
