Alan Shearer still leads the list of players with the most braces in Premier League history, 20 year after retirement.
Shearer still holds the record
Former Alan Shearer remains the player with the most braces in Premier League history. The legendary striker scored 57 doubles during his career with Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United.
Shearer played 441 match in the competition before retiring in 2006 and his record for scoring two goal in a single match has still not been broken.
Harry Kane closest challenger
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane sits second on the list with 47 braces. Kane moved to Bayern Munich in summer 2023 which ended his run in Premier League.
Many observers believe Kane could have matched or even surpassed Shearer’s record if he had remained in England considering his remarkable scoring form.
Premier League legends in the top Ten
Third place belongs to former Arsenal star Thierry Henry who recorded 42 braces. He is followed by Wayne Rooney, the all-time top scorer for Manchester United, with 41 doubles.
In fifth place comes Sergio Aguero, Manchester City’s historic striker who scored 38 braces in 275 match.
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler sits sixth with 35 braces while Mohamed Salah ranks seventh after recording 33 braces in 322 match for Liverpool.
Current stars closing in
Former striker Andy Cole is eighth on the list with 30 braces in 414 game.
Among active players, Erling Haaland of Manchester City has already reached 27 braces in just 125 match matching the total of former England striker Michael Owen.
With his impressive scoring rate, Haaland could become one of the players capable of challenging the historic record in the coming seasons.
A record that has stood for decades
Shearer’s dominance in front of goal helped him become the all-time top scorer in Premier League history and his brace record is another sign of his impact on the competition.
