The Arizona Cardinals have many roster decisions to make before then.
Leading up to the new league year, we will profile every player on the roster, go over what they did last season, what their contract status is and what they face in 2026.
Next up is safety Joey Blount.
Joey Blount 2025 season
Blount was not tendered as a restricted free agent in 2025 but re-signed on a two-year, $3.5 millilon deal. The special teams standout saw his season end after only one game. He suffered a concussion in the season opener and then was found to have a neck injury that ended his season. In 10 special teams snaps, he had one tackle.
Joey Blount contract status
He is signed through 2026 and scheduled to make a little more than $1.5 million, counting $1.78 million against the salary cap. He will be an unrestricted free agent in 2027.
Joey Blount offseason outlook
Assuming he has recovered from the neck injury, he should stay around in the offseason. There is a new coaching staff and new special teams coordinator, but he has been a core special teams player since he joined the Cardinals, and there is no reason to believe he can't continue to do that. He won't be assured a spot on the roster, but he should stick around.
