Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte missed the cut despite earning three national team caps over the last three years. Former Crew midfielder Aidan Morris was also left off the roster.
Arfsten made his debut for the U.S. in January 2025 and has been called up to every national team camp since. With 18 caps since, Arfsten has recorded a goal and five assists on the international stage.
For the Crew, the 25-year-old ranks second in goals scored throughout 2026, scoring four in the regular season and one in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals.
Arfsten is the second Crew player to make a World Cup roster, as defender Steven Moreira was named to Cape Verde's team on May 18.
The United States will train in Irvine, California, before facing Paraguay in its first World Cup game on June 12.
