Discussions centred on the Duty Deferment Facility, which helps ease working capital pressures for importers, and the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Scheme, offering faster clearances and lower inspection requirements for compliant businesses.

“India’s trade competitiveness will increasingly depend on how effectively industry leverages facilitation measures like AEO and duty deferment. Wider adoption can significantly improve efficiency and reduce transaction costs,” said Vaibhav Vohra.

Sumit Kumar, Principal ADG, DGTS, MZU, Mumbai said, “The focus is on making processes simpler and more predictable. Continued outreach and dialogue with industry are essential to ensure these reforms deliver tangible benefits on the ground.”

The session saw participation from importers, exporters and trade professionals, with discussions also touching on implementation challenges and the need for greater awareness of available schemes.
