Where did the Oklahoma Sooners rank in J.D. PicKell's new top 25?
· Yahoo Sports
The Oklahoma Sooners made the College Football Playoff last year, and with fifth-year head coach Brent Venables returning a number of key starters, there is high optimism that OU could be good enough to make a return trip to the CFP this year.
On3's J.D. PicKell, the host of "The Hard Count with J.D. PicKell", released his post-spring top 25 college football rankings, and he has the Sooners ranked inside the top 10. Specifically, PicKell has Oklahoma ranked No. 9 in the nation, which is good for third in the Big 12, behind only No. 1 Georgia and No. 6 Texas.

PicKell ranked nine total teams in the SEC inside the top 25, including Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee, and Missouri. Of the other eight SEC schools in the top 25, OU will have to play five of them, as they'll dodge only LSU, Alabama, and Tennessee. Oklahoma also must play Michigan again this year, the team that PicKell ranked No. 14 on his list.

After a surprising run to the playoff last season that ended with a first-round exit, the Sooners believe they've done the work this offseason to be even better in 2026. With still four-and-a-half months until the season opener on September 5th, there's still time for Venables' Sooners to continue to grow and develop ahead of an important season in Norman.
