IIM Ranchi Celebrates 12th International Day of Yoga with Focus on ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’

IIM Ranchi celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with active participation from students, faculty members, and staff members, highlighting the importance of Yoga in promoting physical well-being, mental balance, and a healthy lifestyle. The theme for this year’s International Yoga Day, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ reflects the growing significance of Yoga in supporting healthy longevity, active living, and improved quality of life across all age groups.
The event commenced with the live session of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 6:30 AM, followed by a dedicated Yoga session at the IIM Ranchi campus.

During the programme, Dr. Anjesh Kumar, Nagar Sampark Pramukh, Vivekananda Kendra, Ranchi, shared insights on the positive impact of Yoga on physical and mental health. He highlighted how regular practice of Yoga helps in developing discipline, improving concentration, and maintaining overall well-being.
The Yoga session was conducted by Yoga trainers Dr Vishwajit Verma, Assistant Professor, Sarala Birla University, Ranchi, and Pradeep Kumar, Student, Ranchi University. The participants were guided through various Yoga asanas and breathing practices. The trainers also explained the health benefits associated with each posture and its role in improving flexibility, strength, and mental wellness.
Addressing the gathering at the conclusion of the Yoga session, Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, encouraged everyone to incorporate Yoga into their daily routine for a balanced and healthy lifestyle. He appreciated the efforts of the trainers and guests in successfully conducting the session and felicitated them for their valuable contribution.
The event witnessed the presence of Chairperson, Student Engagement and Development Committee (SEDC) Prof. Jyoti Verma, Divyanshu Pandey, Sah Nagar Pramukh, and Prashant Kumar Shandilya, Nagar Sahitya Pramukh, Vivekananda Kendra, Ranchi, along with members of the IIM Ranchi community.
