Caitlin Clark, Stephanie White, and the Indiana Fever were building momentum, but have now suffered consecutive losses to Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream.

It’s the latest chapter in what has been a tumultuous early part of the season for the Fever. Initially considered a WNBA championship contender, the Fever haven’t met expectations so far this season, and many believe it’s time for the organization to make a decision on White’s future as head coach.

Fever Suffer Another Loss To Dream As Stephanie White Tension Mounts

The Fever were overpowered in a 113-96 loss to the Dream in Atlanta. The Dream improved to 2-1 against the Fever this season in one of the league’s most discussed matchups due to the rivalry between Clark and Reese.

Clark had one of her best shooting performances of the season, finishing the game with 26 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists. Reese also had a strong shooting performance, finishing the game with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Reese also made WNBA history as the fastest player to reach 1,000 career rebounds.

Many Fever fans believe the team’s consecutive losses to the Dream should be the final straw and lead to a change at head coach. The CDS Sports Podcast said on X, “If Stephanie White is still employed by the Indiana Fever tomorrow, no one should watch or go to any games until she’s removed. This is no a professional sports franchise.”

White has been under the microscope this season due to the team’s slow start and constant speculation of a rift with Clark, though both women have denied that.

Another user added: “Stephanie White should be embarrassed. Her play calling is the absolute worst. Their star guard was on fire in the 1st period. White sits her and the dynamic shifts immediately. CC was off with TOs in the third and just nothing was meshing. Over it.”

Clark hit multiple 3s while surpassing double figures by the end of the first quarter. However, the offense started running through the Fever’s other All-Star scoring guard Kelsey Mitchell in the second quarter, a move that frustrated many Clark fans.

Venom said, “Steph White Saw That GODLIKE 1Q CC Offense & Really Said ‘Nah, I’d Rather Lose Than Continue This’ LOL This Coach has The IQ Of A Doorknob.”

Multiple Clark fans have expressed their belief that White is purposely limiting Clark’s production by refusing to adjust the team’s system, arguing that’s the primary reason she should be fired. But it wasn’t just her management of Clark that frustrated observers.

GoldenKnight said, “Fever cut it to 10 & Stephanie White just continues to keep Boston on the bench lol. Comical coaching job by her today considering going small against this team too.”

All-Star big Aliyah Boston struggled against Reese at different points of the game, causing White to play backup Damiris Dantas significant minutes.
