There’s zero doubt Cam Jordan is one of the all-time greats when it comes to the New Orleans Saints’ franchise, so it’s good to see him finish his career with the team that drafted him all the way back in 2011.
The details of his new contract were released Thursday. So now that we have the full scope, let’s slap a grade on Cam Jordan’s final deal with the Saints.
Cam Jordan’s last contract with the Saints is a good deal for both sides
Jordan’s last contract is a one-year deal with a max value of $11 million. He got the raise he wanted, too, as he’ll make $7.5 million in cash after making $6.050 million, last year. That’s still a really solid number for both parties, even when considering Jordan turns 37 in less than a month and he’ll only count $4.29 million in dead money after he retires.
But what really puts the icing on the cake is Jordan stands to make an extra $3.5 million through sack incentives. Those numbers haven’t been released, yet, but it’ll probably look similar to last year’s incentives that are shown below:
- 5: $300,000
- 6: $300,000
- 7: $400,000
- 8: $400,000
- 9: $600,000
Cam Jordan experienced a bit of a resurrection under Saints first-year defensive coordinator Brandon Staley. Jordan had been playing out of a two-point stance more and more over the last few years and Staley basically made that the MO for Jordan in 2025.
That led to the most sacks he’s recorded in a single season (10.5) since 2021 and the sixth-best mark for his career. He was able to get to the QB from a variety of spots and a couple of them even came with his hand in the dirt.
Cam Jordan’s career stats
The Saints drafted Jordan in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft and he became an immediate difference-maker. Below are the numbers from his illustrious 15-season career:
- Sacks: 132.0
- Tackles for loss: 175
- QB hits: 248
- Forced Fumbles: 17
- Interceptions: 3
- Pass break-ups: 67
- Pro Bowls: 8
- First-team All-Pros: 1
- Games played: 243
Jordan still has plenty of gas left in the tank, too. He still plays with the non-stop motor that’s propelled his career and his hand usage is top-notch. There’s enough speed, bend, and body control left in his game to where another double-digit sack season is plausible.
But the key is how Staley used him in 2025 and nothing should change in 2026. Jordan and the Saints are both betting on themselves (Jordan’s ability + Staley’s scheme) and it should help the franchise legend end his career on a high note.
The only knock, here, is Jordan’s age, but honestly it’s not a big deal when considering he’s basically been Ironman his entire career: Jordan has missed just two of a possible 245 games in his career. If he does happen to suffer an injury, well, that’s just more bad luck than anything.
Overall, it’s a very good deal that should benefit both sides when it’s all said and done.
