He's in the Mexico squad, but he isn't the starting goalie any longer, which is a big difference for the Mexican legend with his signature curly hair.

And now, it's sounding more and more like Ochoa might retire.

His club career has taken him to far-flung outposts in the world of soccer, and his identity has always been tied so heavily to El Tri that this can't be easy for him.

Is Guillermo Ochoa retiring?

Recent comments Ochoa made as part of a FIFA video series certainly sound like someone who is considering the end of his career.

The interview was part of FIFA's series called "Letters That Unite," and Ochoa was very honest.

This was the most striking part of what he said:

"I can't imagine my career without the national team. I don't know what my career would be like without the national team. And now that my time with the national team is ending, I don't see any more meaning in football, I don't see any more meaning in continuing to play. I don't see the point in keeping on playing."

He signed off on the video like this:

"I've enjoyed each moment here. I gave it my all. I leave peacefully and with my head held high and I am proud to have experienced this."

It's hard to imagine Ochoa has much more footballing left in him now.
