LEXINGTON — J Batt is in line for a hefty payday.

The new leader of Kentucky's athletics department, Batt is set to make $2.6 million in his first year on the job. And that salary only will rise in future years, according to a copy of his terms sheet posted on the official site of UK's Office of Legal Counsel. The contract is slated to run for six years, beginning in July 2026 and running through June 30, 2032.

Batt's base pay in Year 1 is $400,000, with $2.2 million in supplemental income.

Here are the figures for the following years of the deal:

  • Year 2: $2.75 million ($400,000 base pay, $2.35 million supplemental)
  • Year 3: $2.9 million ($400,000 base pay, $2.5 million supplemental)
  • Year 4: $3.05 million ($400,000 base pay, $2.65 million supplemental)
  • Year 5: $3.2 million ($400,000 base pay, $2.8 million supplemental)
  • Year 6: $3.35 million ($400,000 base pay, $2.95 million supplemental)

Batt can earn even more money if the Wildcats' athletics programs produce stellar results in their respective sports.
