Are the Boston Celtics a leader in the Giannis bidding war?
· Yahoo Sports
Following a first-round playoff exit at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics are expected to make some changes. As such, Boston has been increasingly linked with a potential trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is reportedly disgruntled with the Milwaukee Bucks and is expected to end his 13-year tenure with the franchise.
Over the past week, rumors surrounding the Celtics' interest in the 2021 NBA champion have heated up, so much so that Boston is now viewed as a potential front-runner in any bidding war. Unfortunately for Celtics fans, a move for Giannis would almost certainly mean parting ways with Jaylen Brown, as both stars are on a similarly sized contract, making salary matching fairly straightforward.

However, Boston and Milwaukee would likely need to draft in a third team, so that Brown could be re-routed and Milwaukee could acquire the young talents and draft picks the front office covets. Of course, these are only rumors at the moment, which makes it hard to cut through the noise in search of what's true and what's being fabricated.
During a recent upload to NESN's YouTube channel, the hosts debated whether the Celtics are really part of the Giannis sweepstakes, and how likely it is that the two-time MVP ends up being Jayson Tatum's new All-Star running mate over the next couple of years.
