Troy baseball coach Skylar Meade confirmed following his team's 12-8 upset of Ole Miss at the College World Series that the injury his centerfielder sustained against the Rebels won't keep him off the lineup card when the Trojans resume play Tuesday against either West Virginia or North Carolina. For Meade, Meier is one of the Trojans' toughest players.

"The guy's had two shoulder surgeries on his right shoulder. We thought his season was done in our ninth game of the year when it felt like it went out," Meade said. "I say that to say, he'll find a way. He'll start Tuesday. If he's got to come out, he'll have to come out."

Meier tweaked a lower extremity while playing defense in the seventh inning.

"That grass here is really soft. It's beautiful, but really soft. If you saw (his) left foot landed, then his right foot landed on the track, so it kind of jarred him," Meade added. "I think he thought he was going to land it on the grass. It didn't appear to be hyperextension in nature, from the replays I saw. I didn't get a chance to speak to Steve. ... I'm at least going to put him in there, and if he's got to come out, he's got to come out."

Meade batted 0-for-3 against the Rebels before being replaced in centerfield by Drew Nelson.
