JUB JUB ARRESTED OVER JEALOUS RAGE
According to reports, Jub Jub was arrested on Sunday, 14 June, after an altercation with an Uber driver.
Police Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the incident occurred after the TV personality confronted an e-hailing driver who had dropped off his girlfriend at his Edenvale residence in the early morning.
Ironically, the host of the Uyajola 9/9 Moja Love reality show about cheaters, accused the driver of being in a relationship with his partner.
“The suspect allegedly forced the e-hailing driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving. During the incident, the suspect reportedly discharged a firearm in the direction of the driver. The e-hailing driver managed to escape unharmed and immediately drove to a nearby police station to report the matter”, Mathe stated.
Maarohanye is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court on Monday, 15 June, on charges of kidnapping, defeating the ends of justice and discharging a firearm in public.

TROUBLE WITH THE LAW
In 2022, Jub Jub made headlines after his ex-girlfriend, Amanda du Pont, accused him of rape and domestic abuse during their relationship between 2006 and 2010.
Three more women – including journalist Masechaba Ndlovu – also came forward with similar allegations against the musician.
A year later, Jub Jub handed himself over to police after a warrant of arrest on charges of rape, attempted murder and assault was issued.
In 2024, the NPA withdrew all charges against the artist, stating that “there was no reasonable prospect of a successful prosecution”.
In 2010, Jub Jub was arrested after a drag racing incident with a pal that claimed the lives of four schoolchildren. He was convicted of murder and attempted murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison. In 2014, the Supreme Court of Appeal overturned the murder convictions and replaced them with culpable homicide. It claimed that there was not enough evidence of intent to kill. As a result, his sentence was reduced to an effective 8 years in prison.
He was released on parole in 2017.
