Bears defenders exit with injury during Tuesday’s minicamp practice

· Yahoo Sports

The Chicago Bears returned to Halas Hall this week for the first of their three-day mandatory minicamp, and it was a humid day on the practice field. And while those in attendance noted the defense had their way with the offense, there was mixed news on the injury front for defensive coordinator Dennis Allen's unit.

Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson and linebacker D'Marco Jackson exited Tuesday's session early with injuries. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune noted Stevenson appeared to suffer a foot or ankle injury, but it didn't seem serious. Jackson exited near the end of practice. It's never ideal to see two starters exit practice, but hopefully neither injury keeps them out for long. Cornerback Kyler Gordon also remained out with a soft tissue injury.

While Stevenson and Jackson left early, a couple of defensive starters seem to be making substantial progress in their return from injury. Defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo (torn Achilles) and linebacker TJ Edwards (fractured fibula) took another step in their recoveries by participating in team drills. Both players were present for organized team activities (OTAs) last week but only took part in individual drills. This is an encouraging step and bodes well for their participating during training camp later this summer.
