The New York Knicks have two players who have been to the NBA Finals once – Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby. Only one of them got to celebrate by the end of the series.

Anunoby was part of the Toronto Raptors squad that won the 2019 NBA championship although he did not play in the Finals series due to an injury. Bridges was part of the 2021 Phoenix Suns that got defeated by Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in the finals stage.

The bitter part about Bridges’ stint was that his team almost had it all. His Suns went up 2-0 against the Bucks but then they surrendered the next four games and the Bucks wrapped it all up in six games, realizing the team’s popular phrase “Bucks in Six”.

The Knicks forward still remembers how they let go of the series and that’s something he wants his current team to be aware of as the enter Game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs. He believes anything can happen and they should have a mind-set that the series is still 0-0.

Timothee Chamalet reacts to Mikal Bridges’ quote

Bridges is drawing inspiration from 2021 heartbreak and it’s working. The Knicks has a celebrity row who cheer them on relentlessly. Timothee Chamalet is one of those passionate celebrity fans and even him is inspired by Bridges.

“So inspiring wow”, he wrote in his Instagram story.

Chamalet is reacting to a post-game interview where Bridges refused to celebrate and instead remained critical of his team despite the victory to make it 2-0 in their favor

“I wish we had a better fourth quarter, but they a really good time, keep pushing, but we gotta be better. … Even though I am tired, I got to go, I can’t have a fourth quarter like that,” he told the interviewers.

Game 3 is on Monday at the Madison Square Garden.
