In-state four-star tight end commits to Tennessee football

2027 four-star tight end Malik Howard committed to Tennessee on Saturday over Alabama, Notre Dame and Oregon. He officially visited the Vols on Friday.

The 6-foot-3, 231-pound prospect is an in-state prospect from Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 8 2027 tight end and No. 8 player in Tennessee.

Tennessee offered Howard a scholarship on June 5, 2024. He unofficially visited the Vols eight times before his official visit.

Kentucky was the first school to offer Howard a scholarship on May 23, 2024.

Other Power Four schools to offer him scholarships include Indiana, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Miami, Florida State, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Duke, Maryland, Purdue, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Florida, Syracuse, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Arkansas, Colorado, Auburn, LSU, Northwestern and West Virginia.

Tennessee has eight other commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, defensive back Carter Jamison and defensive back Brandon Leavell.
