Patriots players anxiously await upcoming A.J. Brown news

WORCESTER - With the June 1 deadline less than 24 hours away for the expected trade of A.J. Brown, a few Patriots players at Drake Maye’s inaugural MayeDay Softball Classic, Sunday at Polar Park weighed in on the possibility of the team landing the Philadelphia Eagles star receiver.
“If he comes, that would be amazing,” said receiver DeMario ‘Pop’ Douglas. “Good guy. I follow him on Instagram to see what he does. He’s a ballplayer.”

The Patriots are the front-runners to land the perennial 1,000-yard receiver. Most experts believe the Patriots will have to surrender a future first-round pick to make the deal happen.
Running back Rhamondre Stevenson, like Douglas, thinks Brown could be a difference-maker in the Patriots offense.
“I think he’d do a lot. He’s a great player, obviously. One of the best receivers in the league,” Stevenson said. “That’s above what we do. I just leave it up to the front office. I know they’re going to get people here that will help us win.”
Thus far during the offseason, the Patriots released Stefon Diggs, while signing free agent Romeo Doubs.
The addition of Brown would give the Patriots a legitimate No. 1 receiver who would dictate coverage from opposing defenses.
