Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski faced an unusual situation Sunday.

Standing on third base was Houston Astros' Jake Meyers. On second was Jeremy Pena. Both reached on back-to-back singles. On first was Yordan Alvarez, who absorbed a hit-by-pitch.

For a pitcher who yielded just one run during his five previous starts, Misiorowski stared down Christian Walker, attempting to maintain a scoreless tie. On his second offering, a 102-mph four-seam fastball, the Astros slugger grounded out to first baseman Andrew Vaughn.

In a pitcher's duel with Tatsuya Imai (2-3), the Astros starter who was coming off a no-hitter, made one mistake, yielding a two-run home run to Jake Bauers in the fourth inning.

Misiorwski, as he did through much of May, pitched virtually mistake-free.

After working seven shutout innings during Sunday's 2-0 victory at Daikin Park, Misiorwski (6-2) combined to allow just one earned run in 38.1 innings last month, en route to matching a unique MLB mark.

Brewers' Jacob Misiorwski nearly untouchable in May

After collecting 108 strikeouts, allowing 13 earned runs and issuing 19 walks, Misiorwski became the third pitcher in league history to post more than 100 strikeouts with fewer than 15 earned runs and 20 walks allowed.

The second-year right-hander matched the efforts of Boston Red Sox's Pedro Martinez (2000) and New York Mets' Jacob deGrom (2021).

In his previous start against the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field on May 25, Misiorowski became the first pitcher to unleash 57 pitches of at least 100 mph during a single outing. It was the lone start where he yielded an earned run. He finished with a 0.24 ERA and 57 strikeouts last month.

He displayed more power Sunday, hitting triple-digits on 14 first-inning pitches.

As mistake-free as Misiorowski performed in May, was he outdone by Philadelphia Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez, who posted a 4-0 mark with a 0.00 ERA?
