2026 proved to be a banner year for LaPointe, scoring 66 goals in the highest-scoring individual season at Maryland since Aurora Cordingley’s 67 scores in 2022. She also had the most productive offensive game by a Terp this season, tallying seven goals and 10 total points in their regular-season win over Johns Hopkins.
LaPointe’s rise in production came in her first year in the starting lineup. But on a Maryland attacking core filled with high-volume scorers, her precise shooting and poise in X made her a standout on offense.
However, that offense wasn’t enough Friday, as Maryland only mustered six goals in its semifinal loss to the Tar Heels. With many of their premier goal scorers departing in the offseason, the Terps are likely to rely on LaPointe to a greater extent as they bring in new attacking pieces.
