The actress took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, to announce that she had officially received communication from SABC regarding the payment. Chuene said the paperwork had already been completed and submitted, and she was now waiting for the payment process to be finalised.

“On this day, 19 May 2026 at 4pm, I, Rami Chuene, would like to state on record that I have received communication from the SABC telling me they will be paying me repeat fees for my work on Giyani: Land Of Blood,” she wrote.

Chuene also made it clear that she shared the update so that other actors could understand that repeat fees are something performers deserve when productions air again on television.

“Why am I telling you? So you know, my dear thespians, that this is what is truly due to us,” she said.

She thanked the SABC for the communication and expressed hope that other actors whose productions continue to air on television are also receiving their repeat fees.

RAMI CHUENE ENCOURAGES ACTORS TO READ CONTRACTS

Just a day before sharing the news about her repeat fees, Chuene urged actors and actresses to take contracts seriously and fully understand what they sign.

The actress pleaded with artists to carefully read every section of their agreements instead of only focusing on payment and contract duration.

“Please, please read your parts, the producer’s parts and the channel’s parts. Know your rights, obligations and responsibilities,” she wrote.

Chuene encouraged actors to seek legal advice when necessary and to add clauses that protect their personal interests, beliefs and preferences.

She warned that many artists often place themselves in difficult situations by ignoring the “fine print” in contracts.

“We screw ourselves by not reading the FINE PRINT,” she said.

CHUENE SPEAKS ABOUT INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE

Chuene also called on actors to educate themselves about the entertainment industry and the laws that affect performers. She mentioned the Performers’ Protection Amendment Bill and encouraged artists to understand the regulations they want to challenge.

The actress said artists need to ask questions, stay informed and stop “fighting in the dark.”

She also motivated performers to stand up for themselves, even when it feels uncomfortable.

“Even if your voice is shaking, speak up. This is your life, not a popularity contest,” she wrote.

Chuene ended her message by encouraging actors to take accountability and start by understanding their own contracts before taking on bigger industry battles.

“Now, back to the beginning: find your contract and read it then we can talk. Ke a le rata neh!”
