Lions-Commanders playoff rematch comes to Ford Field this preseason

The Detroit Lions' preseason schedule is set.
The Lions will host the Washington Commanders at noon Saturday, Aug. 22, in their lone home exhibition game this summer at Ford Field. The game is a rematch of the Lions' divisional round playoff loss to the Commanders from the 2024 season, when the Lions won a franchise-record 15 games but lost their playoff opener.

Previously, the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts announced their preseason schedules, including games against the Lions.
The Lions open the preseason at 7 p.m. Aug. 13 against the Bengals, and close exhibition play at 1 p.m. Aug. 29 against the Colts.
The Lions are expected to play their starters more in preseason games this summer with no joint practices on the schedule.
They open the regular season Sept. 13 at home against the New Orleans Saints.
