Cubs pitcher needs surgery after suffering injury while playing with his kids

The world is a dangerous place, especially if you're a professional baseball player.
There is a long and storied history of baseball players suffering weird injuries while just living out here in the world. And sadly, the latest addition to that list is Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd.
Visit afsport.lat for more information.
Cubs manager Craig Counsell announced Wednesday that Boyd will head to the Injured List after needing surgery for a torn meniscus.
Now, Boyd went six innings in Sunday's start against Arizona and didn't appear to suffer any injury. So, you may find yourself asking, "How in the world did he tear his meniscus then?" The answer apparently is that Boyd was trying to sit down to play with his kids.

That's a tough blow for Boyd and the Cubs. The man was just trying to be a present father and now he's facing surgery and a rehabilitation process ahead of him.
It's just more proof that baseball players need to be more careful out there.
