The Baltimore Orioles are now 15-20 on the season after a 12-1 blowout loss to AL East division rival, the New York Yankees, on Monday, which completed a series sweep.

This would be the fifth straight game the Orioles have lost, with all of them coming by at least five runs.

Even though it is not where the Orioles want to be, notable free-agent signing Pete Alonso still has faith in his team after the recent skid.

Pete Alonso believes bright days are ahead for the Orioles

After the loss on Monday, Alonso gave what should be seen as a reassuring statement about where the team is currently.

"It's still early, but we've got to get going, for sure. It's not about how you start, it's about how and where you finish. I think we can draw back from this really tough experience and use this in a positive way," Alonso stated.

Alonso believes the team can turn it around, and who is anyone to say it won't be?

Regardless of how things look for Baltimore right now, there are still 127 games left for the Orioles to get the ball rolling, and with the talent they have, it has to be only a matter of time before they start collecting wins.

With the big-time bats the Orioles have in players such as Gunnar Henderson, Taylor Ward, Pete Alonso, and Adley Rutschman, it's hard to imagine them staying near the bottom of the AL East.

The pitching will have to improve; that is going to be the case, as the starting rotation has struggled, and it is a big part of why the Orioles are currently five games below .500.

Four of their starting pitchers either have or nearly have a 5.00 ERA.

Last season, the Orioles were one of the most disappointing teams in the league, and based on Alonso's statement, it is clear they don't want a repeat of that this season.
