Wastnage was co-founder of pharmaceutical firm the Pharmaxo Group which he sold in 2024.

He currently owns One Atlantek - a hospitality and property group that sponsors the club.

"I'm really looking forward to helping the Pirates to build on their strong and vibrant rugby culture, heritage and supporter engagement both on and off the field," Wastnage said.

Wastnage joins the consortium of local businessmen that bought the Penzance-based club in January 2025.

They took over from long-serving chairman and benefactor Sir Richard 'Dicky' Evans, who had been involved with the club for almost three decades.

"From our first meeting, I knew that Richard would be a brilliant fit and a huge asset to Pirates," added chief executive Sally Pettipher.

"He has a deep understanding of rugby, a love for Cornwall, and his insight into our current operations and development plans have been incredibly valuable already."
