The reality is that being the No. 1 pick does come with additional pressure relative to any other slot. And it's not like Bazzana has been bad along the way.
He's always been a player with a very solid floor, but he's got upside, too. The Guardians aren't an organization that lands big free agents. They need to bring their youngsters up on the right timeline, so that they're ready and can be maximized for the years that Cleveland maintains club control.
Bazzana is just about ready, and second base has been rough enough that the Guardians decided there was no more time to waste.
