With qualifying rained out at Talladega, NASCAR will turn to its mathematical formula used to determine starting lineups. Each car's rank in the current owner points, as well as where each car finished in the previous race, determines the 40-car lineup. Tyler Reddick, naturally, will start up front.
Sunday's Jack Link's 500 will be the 10th of 36 races on the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series schedule. It'll also be the third "plate race" already this season following the opening two weeks at Daytona and Atlanta, the other two tracks where horsepower is hamstrung to keep speeds at saner levels.
Reddick enters the weekend with five wins through the first nine races, including those first two races this year at Daytona and Atlanta. Also, he won Talladega's spring race two years ago, and led laps there last fall before settling for seventh.
In other words, don't be shocked if Reddick makes it a 6-pack Sunday at Talladega.
