It also said that while the quake is considered minor, it’s still strong enough to be felt by those close to the epicentre.
“We have already received many reports of it being felt in Petawawa, Pembroke, Renfrew, and Ottawa. So far, no damage is being reported,” Ontario Storm Watch said in the Facebook post.
‘Made my pets stop in their tracks with wide eyes,’ says Carleton Place resident
Hundreds responded to the post, with many saying they felt the quake.
“Couch shook under me and China cabinet rattled pretty good,” said one resident in the Powassan-Nipissing area.
Another in Port Sydney in the Muskoka area said: “My tiny home was shaking for a solid 10-20 seconds and everything hanging on my walls were (sic) swaying. Was sitting here working in silence and heard the rumbling.”
A Carleton Place resident described it as a “good little rumble,” and said it “rattled items and the couch I was sitting on. Also made my pets stop in their tracks with wide eyes.”
Toronto residents also noted some trembling, with one in North York saying she thought she felt the quake. “The frame of my sliding patio door was rattling and creaking in a strange way,” she noted.
Another Toronto resident said he heard glass in the cabinet “wobble.”
