Andrew Tackett decisions Vagner Rocha, two champs lose their belts at UFC BJJ 7

· Yahoo Sports

In the UFC BJJ 7 main event, Andrew Tackett won a hard fought decision against a 43-year-old grizzly veteran in Vagner Rocha. The pair went back and forth, but Tackett got two takedowns and a slick back take in the third round, which earned him a well deserved nod with the judges. Tackett now has two title defenses and improved to a perfect 5-0 at UFC BJJ.

While Tackett was successful, two inaugural UFC BJJ champions lost their belts at UFC BJJ 7.

Lucas Valente proved that he has Carlos Henrique’s number, as he took his UFC BJJ lightweight belt with a third round foot lock and went 4-0 against him in their grappling careers. Inaugural women’s featherweight champion Aurelie Le Vern also lost her title, spending several moments stuck in closed guard and dropping a decision to Rebeca Lima in a fairly uneventful affair.

Outside of the three title bouts, two accomplished BJJ stars picked up big wins to steal the show at UFC BJJ 7. ADCC double champion Adele Fornarino won a leg lock shootout with Alex Enriquez to get a first round knee bar finish.

WNO openweight champion Declan Moody also continued his recent run of dominance, as he successfully won his UFC BJJ debut against Patrick Gaudio. He easily won with an early back take and rear naked choke, to submit the late replacement. Moody was originally supposed to face Nicholas Meregali until the match was scrapped late.
