Early signs looked troubling. However, head coach T.J. Otzelberger later provided a reassuring update.

According to reports, Otzelberger said Jefferson suffered an ankle sprain, and, most importantly, X-rays came back negative.

Even more encouraging, Otzelberger did not rule Jefferson out for Sunday’s matchup as Iowa State prepares for its next game. The update marks a significant shift from initial fears that the injury could end his season.

Jefferson’s availability for Sunday remains uncertain. Still, the fact that the injury won’t definitively end his tournament run offers a major boost.

Now the question remains: can Jefferson return in time to help push Iowa State on a deep March Madness run?
