The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked as the No. 5 team in the country in week 5 of the USA TODAY coaches poll.

The Dawgs have gotten off to an excellent 17-4 start to begin the 2026 campaign, as Georgia most recently defeated the Tennessee Volunteers two games to one in the opening series of SEC play. The Bulldogs were able to bounce back in authoritative fashion on Saturday and Sunday following a 7-4 loss to begin the series, as star second baseman Ryan Black was credited with two massive RBI’s during Georgia’s 4-2 win over the Vols on Saturday. Caden Aoki recorded an impressive 6 strikeouts over 4 innings pitched during Saturday’s victory as well, as Georgia now finds themselves ranked as the No. 5 overall team in the country following a critical series win over Tennessee.

Freshman outfielder Cole Johnson was credited with what could quickly become the play of the year for the Bulldogs during the series finale on Sunday. Johnson robbed Tennessee catcher Stone Lawless of a go ahead two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning, as Johnson was able to put his defensive potential on full display during Sunday’s series finale against the Vols. Johnson’s series clinching catch secured Georgia’s 8-7 victory over Tennessee, as Johnson put the entire college baseball world on notice with his efforts against the Vols this weekend.

Georgia will face The Citadel on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET, as the Dawgs will look to improve to an 18-4 record to begin the 2026 campaign.
