The Philadelphia Eagles are over one year removed from marching out a championship-winning offense, and they made sure to keep a player from that Super Bowl-winning flock ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

Free agent tight end Dallas Goedert is signing a one-year deal to return to the Eagles, according to multiplereports.

Goedert, a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, grew into a bigger role throughout his eight seasons with the Eagles and had the best year of his career in 2025. He posted a career-high in touchdowns (11) at the perfect time as he hit the free agent market for the first time.

The Eagles faced multiple free agents on defense this offseason, with safety Reed Blankenship, linebacker Nakobe Dean and defensive end Jaelan Phillips, who all left the team. Goedert will not join that list of players and maintains continuity on the offensive side of the ball.

While many Eagles rumors continue to surround wide receiver A.J. Brown, they at least won't have to worry about replacing Goedert's elite red zone production.

How Dallas Goedert fits with Eagles

This one doesn't take much squinting or prediction. Goedert was Philadelphia's top red zone threat in 2025; only two of his 11 touchdowns came from more than 15 yards out.

In 2026, Philadelphia will have its fifth different offensive coordinator of the last five years. This year's hire, Sean Mannion, comes from outside of the Eagles' building, unlike the previous hire (Kevin Patullo). Continuity in personnel as the system changes could be beneficial for quarterback Jalen Hurts and the rest of the pass-catchers.

Goedert is in his age-31 season but we've seen tight ends continue to produce at a high level into their 30s. It's a one-year deal for the Eagles as well, meaning they can rest easy knowing they have a good starter at the position but also doesn't stop them from drafting a potential successor in the NFL Draft come April.
