The Longhorns (18-14) will make the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight year. But it's the second straight year Texas will play in the First Four; this year it is against North Carolina State in Dayton, Ohio and the winner will be the 11th seed.
Texas Longhorns forward Dailyn Swain (3) comes out the game in the second half as the Longhorns play the Florida Gators at the Moody Center in Austin, Feb. 25, 2026. (Sara Diggins/Austin American-Statesman)The Longhorns were considered a Last Four in, bubble team Sunday afternoon according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi's bracketology. Texas might have boosted its chances of securing a spot in the bracket had it not lost in the first round of the SEC tournament to Ole Miss.
With the men's basketball team making the Big Dance, Texas fans took to social media to share the relief that the Longhorns are still playing.

THE HORNS ARE GOING DANCING!🤘🏻🧡#HookEm#MarchMadness
Sean Miller being in the First Four last year at Xavier with a pretty good roster and then being in the First Four again this year at Texas with even more resources is objectively hilarious.
