Richard Hughes agrees first deal in massive transfer plan worth over £200m

Liverpool sporting Richard Hughes director has fired the starting pistol on a transfer plan worth well over £200m.
Richard Hughes oversaw a massive rebuild of Liverpool's attack and full-back positions last summer. The Reds spent record-breaking amounts in attacking midfield, right-back, left-back and striker in order to boost their output.

The was only part one of the rebuild, however. Liverpool have more work to do and it's fully expected that midfield and centre-back will get similar treatment in 2026.
For one, Jeremy Jacquet has already been confirmed as joining Liverpool this summer from Rennes. There's an elite talent at centre-back to build around going forward.
As for midfield, the starting pistol has been fired there, too. Hughes shows a signal of intent with Ryan Gravenberch's new contract - and it won't stop there.
Liverpool's midfield
De Telegraaf reports that Gravenberch's new contract will cost over €100m in its entirety. A gigantic amount for a player Liverpool just took a chance on a few years ago.
And it means this rebuild will now demand far, far more than that. We're easily talking over €200m, with Dominik Szoboszlai being chased for a new contract on what will be similar terms at the very least.
