Ohio State upends Indiana, locks in NCAA tournament bid
· Yahoo Sports
Maybe the Ohio State basketball team is getting hot at the right time. It's been an up-and-down season for the Buckeyes, but lately everything seems to be going right for Jake Diebler's team. OSU was able to end the regular season with a win on Senior Night in the Schotteinstein Center over Indiana by a score of 91-78. While the Buckeyes were projected to get in the Big Dance before the game tipped off, a loss could have put them right back on the bubble. But with the win, Ohio State is now firmly in and is playing for a better seeding in the NCAA Tournament.

Speaking of seeding, the win over the Hoosiers locks the Buckeyes in at the No. 8 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. That's important because it guarantees a double bye to open postseason play, meaning the first game for Diebler's club won't happen until Thursday at noon. Ohio State is hopeful to have Brandon Noel back as tournament play begins. The Big Ten Tournament will open on Tuesday with the bottom four seeds matching up.

On top of the win over Indiana, Bruce Thornton made history as well, becoming the all-time leading scorer in Ohio State men's basketball history. Thornton fired up a stepback three with under a minute to go in the first half that tickled the twine and shot the Buckeye captain to the top of the record books. Dennis Hopson, who held the scoring title for almost four decades, was on hand to witness the historic moment and handed off the baton during halftime, where Thornton was recognized.
The pieces are falling into place at the right time. Does anyone want to play the Scarlet and Gray right now? March is very rarely about finding the best team, but more about who peaks at the right time. Ohio State is peaking and looking to make some noise for the first time in four years.
