Two men charged after alleged failed robbery in Kleinburg

York Regional Police have charged two Toronto men after an alleged failed robbery attempt in Kleinburg.

On Thursday, police responded to a suspicious vehicle call at a commercial plaza in the area of Islington Ave. and Stegman’s Mill Rd.

The complainant reported that around 1 p.m., a grey Honda CRV containing two occupants wearing ski masks pulled into the parking lot. The vehicle fled the scene after the complainant approached the vehicle.

While investigators were inside a commercial unit getting information regarding the suspicious vehicle, the same vehicle returned and parked directly in front of it.

Officers returned to the scene and contained the vehicle, however, the occupants fled on foot.

Suspects found after foot chase

One suspect was arrested after a brief foot pursuit, while the second suspect was arrested after he was found hiding in a shed in a backyard nearby with help from the canine and air support units.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle, which appeared to have been stolen from Toronto on Feb. 8, was found.

York Regional Police have released photos of the suspects they believe are connected to similar incidents.

Joshua Adams, 22, and Anthony Mitchell, 24, were both charged with one count each of attempted robbery, disguise with intent and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
