Kaizer Chiefs interested in star Ghanaian midfielder?
· The South African

Kaizer Chiefs have recently expressed an interest in 20-year-old Hubert Gyau. Let’s see what the real story is there.
Kaizer Chiefs ‘make contact’ with Ghana star Gyau
According to SoccerLaduma, Danish clubs Midtjylland and Randers, as well as Tanzanian side Azam, are monitoring 20-year-old Ghanaian midfielder Hubert Gyau. He’s on the books of Asanta Katoko and has scored four times in 21 league appearances this term. He’s contracted to Prosport International, and CEO agent Mike Makaab says they have not had any official approaches from any club as far as he knows.

“Firstly, let me say this, that honestly we’ve had no approach from any football club regarding Hubert at the moment, we’ve just signed the player, and if there has been, I don’t like to say the story is correct or the story is not correct,” Makaab said.
“If there is interest, then possibly Chiefs have spoken to Asante, but I can’t verify that, we’ve just signed the player. We don’t work in a way that we sign a player and the following day start marketing him. We obviously have to understand his contract situation, which we do know, he has a fairly long-term contract with Asante Kotoko and we have to respect that,” Makaab said.
Orlando Pirates lead the way for Betway Premiership glory
Pirates remain in pole position to claim their first league crown since 2012 after a Relebohile Mofokeng-inspired win over AmaZulu and a routine 3-0 triumph over Marumo Gallants. Mofokeng struck in that match too, meaning the talented attacker has goals in each of his last three outings. However, to say the remainder of February could be make or break for their title ambitions is an understatement. Here’s what’s ahead in the month of love, including matches against defending champions Sundowns and surprise title rivals Kaizer Chiefs:
- Wed, 18 Feb: Pirates vs Sundowns, 19:30
- Sat, 28 Feb: Chiefs vs Pirates, 15:30
Kaizer Chiefs lurk dangerously
Chiefs have conceded only six goals in 15 league outings, the second-best record in the division. Pirates have conceded five. It’s an eye-catching February schedule for Amakhosi, which could make or break their title aspirations. Below is what’s to come for the remainder of Feb:
- Wed 18 Feb: Siwelele vs Chiefs (19:30)
- Tue 24 Feb: Chiefs vs Stellenbosch (19:30)
- Sat 28 Feb: Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates (FNB Stadium, 15:30)
